Project Name: The Answer
Client/Production Company: HHS/1820 Productions
Date: May, 2023
Role: Editor/Content Creator

Project Description:
"Don't Ignore" was a broadcast spot aimed at raising awareness about the importance of COVID-19 vaccination in returning to normal life. The concept of the spot centered around a man, formerly a boxer, who is shown regaining his rhythm and returning to his training at the gym, symbolizing a comeback to normalcy following his vaccination.

Challenges & Solutions:
Shooting this spot was an enjoyable experience. Unlike other projects, I didn't create an animatic during pre-production since the director had a specific vision for the shots and wanted to leave room for creative development in the editing phase. I played a significant role in pre-production, particularly in finding the shooting location.
The music was selected by the client, and I tailored the edit to fit the chosen track. This spot allowed me to experiment with a variety of shots, and I also handled the color grading. The director trusted me with defining the visual aesthetic, and I proposed a rustic color scheme to lend the spot a dramatic and atmospheric feel. In addition to color grading, I incorporated a few visual effects to conceal certain elements in the gym and added camera effects to enhance the overall mood of the shots.
Since no sound was recorded during the shoot, I initially added temporary sound effects to outline my audio vision before handing over the final mix to Dallas Audio Post for professional audio finishing.

Techniques & Tools Used:
Adobe Premiere Pro was used throughout all iterations of the edit. Final color was done by me using Davinci Resolve, and the final audio mix was completed at Dallas Audio Post.

Additional Info:
This spot required a relatively quick turnaround, with a deadline of just two weeks. Initially, there was a challenge with the creative directors opinion on the edit. The creative director from the agency 1820 Productions, who I worked with at the time,  was not satisfied with our initial cut and opted to create a paper edit that didn't meet our standards. However, Director Korey Miller stood his ground against the agency's initial feedback. After presenting our version to the broader team at the agency, they were convinced by our vision, and the final decision was to keep the edit as we originally crafted it.
