Project Description:
"Don’t Ignore" was a regional broadcast spot focused on raising awareness about the importance of homeowner flood insurance. The creative concept behind the spot was to exaggerate the notion of ignoring problems, specifically highlighting the absurdity of overlooking something as critical as your house flooding. This approach was designed to underscore the significance of being proactive in securing flood insurance for homeowners.
Challenges & Solutions:
The most significant challenge in this project was selecting the appropriate music. In the later stages of pre-production, I developed an animatic for the director, demonstrating the pacing in line with his shot selections, which were crafted with a storyboard artist. This animatic was instrumental in aiding the music selection process, particularly as the director was seeking a very ethereal sound.
Once I identified and found the tack heard in the final spot, I was able to complete the animatic. The director fell in love with the song and even decided to play it on set during filming so the actress could fully immerse herself in the scene. This decision not only ensured consistency with the envisioned mood and tone set by the director but also helped in aligning the shoot with the pre-established rhythm and atmosphere of the project.
Techniques & Tools Used:
Adobe Premiere Pro was used throughout all iterations of the edit. This was one way to eliminate a lot of guesswork before showing up on set. Keke stuck directly to the scripts on set which made cutting them very simple. Final color was done in collaboration with Company3, and the final audio mix was completed at Dallas Audio Post.
